When I rebuilt the earlier version of my portfolio, I wanted a stack that felt fast, simple, and sustainable for long-term publishing. Astro and Cloudflare Pages turned out to be a very effective combination for that phase.
Astro made it easy to keep the site mostly static, which was ideal for a content-heavy surface like a portfolio and technical blog. Cloudflare Pages gave me a straightforward deployment path with excellent performance at the edge.
Why That Version Mattered
That site was where the portfolio stopped being a generic personal page and started becoming a real publishing system.
It introduced clearer content boundaries, better project storytelling, and a more intentional structure for writing about engineering work.
What I Learned
- Static-first architectures are excellent for content-heavy experiences
- A portfolio becomes much stronger when projects are framed as real decisions and outcomes
- Deployment simplicity matters because it affects how often you actually publish
- Once the content model is solid, the next version can focus on platform flexibility and editorial depth
That foundation is exactly what pushed this newer Vinext version forward.
